I have to say the last few weeks have been interesting. Wasilla has gone from anonymous to autonomous.
Among the changes I’ve noticed, have been increasing emails, with budding curiosity about Alaska. Even with all the information that’s come out recently, there still seems to be a lot of confusion.
Doesn’t Palin hunt wolves from an airplane?
No, she supported legislation allowing the hunting of wolves from airplanes. She herself doesn’t do so.
Doesn’t she hunt moose?
Yes, I’m sure she does. But hunting moose here, is the equivalent of hunting deer in the lower 48. We only have deer on a couple of very southern outlying islands. The rest of Alaska has moose. And there are a LOT of them. They are not some exotic animal. People hunt them yearly for sustenance and for trophies.
Wow, you guys just got a $1200 fuel incentive. You must be rich!
Well, considering our auto fuel prices just dropped below $4 a gallon, that $1200 brings us even with the rest of the lower 48… who have been paying $1 a gallon less for their gas for sometime. Also, other fuels are WAY expensive up here, and natural gas is increasing 20% in January 2009. So I wouldn’t say that $1200 will get us very far.
What’s the deal with this Troopergate thing?
In my opinion, based on what I’ve researched, Wooten is a bad cop. And you know what? He’s still on the streets as a trooper. He is not the kind of man that I would trust. He tried to taser his own step son. Sounds sadistic, and I believe he should be removed from public service. That being said, the whole question is whether or not Palin violated ethics laws by firing Wooten’s superior, because he wouldn’t fire Wooten. I think she was justified in her actions.
I just think it’s sad, that for whatever reason, Monegan refused fire him. Regardless of person issues between the Palin’s and Wooten, the guy is BAD NEWS. I think she was trying to do the right thing, but went about it the wrong way. I don’t know what the right way is, since these corrupt power trip SERVANTS of ours, always seem to stay in their positions of power, even when it’s been proven they’re only using their power for their own gain. IE: Wooten driving drunk among other things, and getting away with is just because of his status as a trooper. He should be fired.
Anyway. Alaska is a seriously misunderstood state. I’m really sick of people judging us from afar, and listening to twisted media stories.
